Another aspiring jazz musician and computer programmer, Rick, emailed me to let me know about his site (click here). He's got a really cool
Java Ear Training tool and lots of interesting
articles about jazz improvisation. Thanks Rick!
In other news, a friend mentioned a
really cool site by Jake Mandell (click here), who is a doctor/medical researcher/music composer and producer. He posts tracks of his original music along with imaginative visual art, and he also created online tests of pitch perception and tone-deafness.
GNU Solfege (click here) is a free ear training program.
Instant Color Schemes (click here) is a web site I made where you type in a phrase such as "green apple" and it goes to Yahoo Images, retrieves the top 5 images for the phrase and then extracts the six most prominent colors from the images, to give a color scheme that is related to your phrase. It's currently making the rounds in the blogosphere and has been getting 5000 to 10000 page views a day.
In other news, I recorded myself playing the Herbie Hancock tune "Tell Me A Bedtime Story" and you can listen by clicking here. It was recorded on a very nice Steinway piano.
I also made a very experimental track using my synthesizer and a bit of vocals. It's called Open Eyes and you can listen by clicking here.
Introducing Chordzoo.com
Chords are a really important part of most music. There are a lot of chords which sound really cool, but maybe aren't obvious.
My new website, ChordZoo.com (click here) makes use of the collective "ears" of its visitors to listen to chords and then rate and describe them.
Let me know what you think about this new site!
